What is his story?

Moses had a complicated family life. His father, Amram, married his aunt, Jochebed. They had three children: Aaron, Moses, and Miriam. Eventually, Pharaoh issued a decree that all Hebrew baby boys must be killed. But Moses’ mother was not content to see her son perish and she hid him for three months. When she could no longer keep him hidden, she put him in a basket and set him afloat on the Nile River. Pharaoh’s daughter found the basket and took Moses as her own son, naming him “Moses” because she drew him out of the water.

Aaron was Moses’ older brother. He was also a Levite like Moses. The two of them became fast friends and allies. When Moses fled Egypt after killing an Egyptian taskmaster, Aaron went with him. Afterward, when God called Moses to lead the Hebrews out of bondage in Egypt, he summoned Aaron to be his spokesman because Moses was slow of speech.

Miriam was Moses’ sister. She watched over him when he was a baby in the bulrushes and later helped reunite him with their mother when Pharaoh’s daughter took him in. Miriam was also a prophetess and led the women in singing and dancing after the crossing of the Red Sea
