What it is

A devotional is a type of religious book, usually written by one person, that is popular in evangelical Protestantism. Devotionals typically contain a mix of scripture readings, commentary, and devotional prayers or reflections.

The purpose of a devotional is to help the reader grow in their relationship with God through intentional daily spiritual disciplines such as Bible reading, prayer, and meditation. While devotionals can be used at any time of day, many people find them especially helpful in the morning as a way to start the day off on the right foot with God.

Why it’s important

Each day, set aside some time for a devotional. A devotional is a time where you can get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and reflect on your relationship with God. It doesn’t have to be fancy or long, but it should be a time where you can focus entirely on God.

A devotional can help you in your walk with God in many ways. First, it can help you remember that God is the most important thing in your life. In the midst of a busy day, it’s easy to forget that. But when you set aside time each day to focus on God, it helps remind you that He should be your number one priority.

Second, a devotional can help you grow in your relationship with God. Just like any relationship, the more time you spend talking with someone and getting to know them, the stronger your relationship will become. When you take time each day to read the Bible and pray, you are getting to know God better and your relationship with Him will grow stronger.

Finally, a devotional can help keep you focused on what’s important in life. In this world, there are many things that can try to steal our attention away from God. But when we take time each day for a devotional, we are reminded of what’s truly important and we can keep our focus on Him.

How to use it

The devotional can be used in many ways, but here are some suggestions:

-Pray through each day, asking God to help you apply what you’ve learned.
