What the Bible says about happiness

The Bible has a lot to say about happiness. In fact, it even tells us what the ingredients for a happy life are. Psalm 1:1-3 tell us that the ingredients for happiness are to: -not follow the counsel of the wicked -stand in the way of sinners -not sit in the seat of mockers

What the early Christians believed about happiness

Early Christians believed that happiness was a virtue and that it was something to be strived for. They believed that happiness was something that came from within and that it could be achieved by following God’s will. The early Christians also believed that happiness was something that would last forever, even after death.

How to be a happy Christian

The Bible has a lot to say about happiness. In fact, God’s Word is full of promises about joy, peace, and contentment. And He doesn’t just leave us with His promises—He gives us practical advice on how to be happy Christians.

Here are four ways to find lasting happiness as a Christian:

  1. Focus on God’s goodness.
When you keep your eyes on the Lord and His faithfulness, you’ll be able to weather any storm that comes your way (Psalm 30:5). When you feel like giving up, remember all the times God has been there for you in the past. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8), and His love for you never fails (Jeremiah 31:3).
  2. Meditate on Scripture.
To be a happy Christian, you need to start each day by reading God’s Word and communicating with Him through prayer (Joshua 1:8). Throughout the day, take time to meditate on Scripture—this will help you keep your thoughts focused on things that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and worthy of praise (Philippians 4:8).
  3. Seek godly relationships.
One of the best ways to maintain a joyful outlook is to surround yourself with other believers who can encourage you and help you grow in your faith (Proverbs 27:17). When you spend time with people who love the Lord, you’ll be reminded of His goodness and grace—and that will fill your heart with happiness.
  4. Serve others.
One of the quickest ways to lose sight of our own problems is to reach out and help someone else in need (Proverbs 11:25). When we focus on serving others instead of ourselves, we can’t help but be filled with gratitude for all that God has given us—and that will lead to lasting happiness.”
