What is the world?
The world is full of different kinds of people. Some are good and some are bad. The world is also full of different kinds of places. Some are good and some are bad. The world is a big place and it can be hard to find your place in it.
The world is full of sin
The world is full of sin and it is not a place that God wants us to be a part of. He wants us to be His children, living in His kingdom, where there is no sin. The world is full of temptation and it is easy to fall into its trap. We need to be aware of the dangers that the world presents and we need to avoid them.
The world is full of temptations
The world is full of temptations that can pull us away from God. It’s easy to get caught up in the material things of this world and forget about what’s really important. It’s important to remember that our friendship with the world is enmity against God. If we want to be friends with God, we need to be willing to give up our friendship with the world.
What is friendship with the world?
Friendship with the world is a doctrines that teaches that it’s okay to be friends with those who don’t follow Jesus. It’s not about denominations or whether someone is a “good person.” Instead, friendship with the world is about enjoying the things of the world while not becoming slaves to them.
Friendship with the world is being like the world
Friendship with the world means having the same values as the world. The world is always changing, so what might be considered “normal” today could be different next year. For example, living together before marriage is now more accepted than it was in the past. Friendship with the world also means being accepting of things that are contrary to God’s Word.
Friendship with the world is loving the things of the world
The world and its ways are opposed to God. To be a friend of the world is to love the things of the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life (1 John 2:15-16). This includes not only outward sin but also sinful attitudes and desires. It includes seeking after material possessions, status, and power rather than desiring to please God.
What is enmity against God?
Enmity against God is defined as having hostility or hatred towards God. This can manifest in different ways, such as refusing to believe in God, rejecting His existence, or being angry or resentful towards Him.
Enmity against God is hating God
Enmity against God is feeling hatred, animosity, or hostility towards God. This can manifest itself in many ways, such as feeling angry at God, not wanting to have anything to do with Him, or actively trying to harm His reputation or disrupt His plans. The Bible says that those who are enemies of God are actually fighting against Him (James 4:4). Additionally, Scripture tells us that anyone who is a friend of the world is an enemy of God (James 4:4). This means that anyone who loves the things of the world— such as money, power, and pleasure— more than they love God is in opposition to Him. In contrast, those who have made peace with God through faith in Jesus Christ are no longer His enemies (Romans 5:10).
Enmity against God is living in disobedience to God
Enmity against God is living in disobedience to God. It is refusing to keep His commandments. It is rejecting His Son, Jesus Christ. It is resisting the Holy Spirit. Enmity against God prevents us from having a personal relationship with Him. It grieves and quenches the Holy Spirit.
How can we have friendship with God and not with the world?
The bible tells us that we cannot have friendship with both God and the world. James 4:4 says, “You adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” If we want to have friendship with God, we need to be willing to turn away from the world.
We need to love God more than we love the world
Friendship with the world is enmity against God. Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us?
But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.”
We need to obey God more than we obey the world
The world is full of evil and darkness, but we don’t need to be afraid of it. We are children of God, and He has given us His Spirit to guide and protect us. But we need to be careful. The Bible tells us that friendship with the world is enmity against God (James 4:4). That means if we want to be friends with God, we can’t also be friends with the world. We have to choose one or the other.
So how can we know if we are more friendly with the world or with God? One way is to think about what our priorities are. What do we spend our time and energy on? Do we focus more on things like money, power, and popularity? Or do we focus on things like love, joy, peace, patience, and kindness? If our priorities are more like the latter, then we are probably closer to God.
Another way to tell is by looking at our actions. Are we living in a way that pleases God or in a way that pleases the world? For example, the Bible tells us not to steal (Exodus 20:15). So if we’re stealing from others, that’s a sign that we care more about what the world wants than what God wants.
It’s not always easy to tell whether we are being influenced more by the world or by God. But it’s important to try because our relationship with God is very important. After all, He is the one who created us and loves us unconditionally. So let’s make an effort to cultivate a deeper friendship with Him.
